This is a unique mineral fertiliser made from volcanic rock dust. It is a blend of 17 ingredients that provides both nutritional and physical benefits. It is non-leaching, completely safe for rivers and waterways and will actually hold onto nutrients and water. It is designed to be included primarily when planting edible crops and will add to the flavour and mineral density of home grown produce by imparting the nutrients, minerals and trace elements from rock dusts and its other ingredient.

Basalt dust provides the fresh rock flour with over 60 minerals. Zeolite, Spongolite and Bentonite give amazing water and nutrient hold ability and increase the cation exchange capacity (CEC), they also provide tiny hotels for beneficial microbes to live in. Rock Phosphate is the organic form of phosphorus and is completely safe for rivers and groundwater. Humalite is almost pure humic acid and provides the carbon needed to stimulate microbes. Small amounts of Dolomite, Lime and Gypsum give Calcium, Magnesium and Sulphur. Potassium Sulphate supplies the potassium needed to sustain plant growth and reproduction. Manganese, Zinc, Copper and Boron are trace elements needed in tiny amounts but very important for enzyme production in plants. Amino Acids, Seaweed Extract and Molasses feed and stimulate microbes.

It is non alkalising and is designed to be used as a continuous ‘little bit often’ input to improve the nutritive quality of the soil and constantly aid in the building of soil structure.

Application Rates:

When using Rock Dust Plus always water in well.

TYPE OF GARDEN	QUANTITY
Veggie Patch	1-2 Heaped handfulls per square metre, incorporate in to the first 50-100mm
Existing Veggie patch	1-2 heaped handfuls per square metre, around dripline, at budburst and/or first flower
Garden beds	1-2 heaped handfuls per square metre incorporate in to the first
Existing Garden beds	1-2 heaped handfuls per square metre, around dripline, at bud burst and /or first flower
Raised Beds	1-2 heaped handfuls per square metre , we suggest you also add some Coastal Cure
Container pots	1/2 to 1 cup into every litre of potting mix, we suggest you also add some Coastal Cure
Fruit trees	1-2kg into plant hole, mix in with soil and a good quality compost
Existing Trees	1-2 handfuls per square metre around dripline, in Autumn, Spring, at budburst and first flower
Native Trees	1/4-1/2kg into plant hole, mix in with soil and a good quality compost
Native Shrubs	1-2 heaped handfuls into plant hole, mix in with soil and a good quality compost
Green manure	Apply Liberally

A  Step by Step Guide On How To Use Rock Dust Plus

Preparing a Garden Bed & Raised Garden Bed

1. Use as an up front addition, 1-2 heaped handfuls per square metrewhen turning in a garden bed

2. Incorporate into the soil 50 – 100 mm with some quality compost- you are now ready to plant

3. Once planting is complete, water in well with No Frills Fertilisers Seaweed Tonic to stimulate early root development, this results in a stronger tougher plant

4. 1 week after planting water plants with No Frills Fertilisers Hydrofish (100 % pure fish), this drives growth – or if you planted from seed await the use of Hydrofish until 1 week after seeds have emerged

5. Alternate applications of Seaweed Tonic and Hydrofish as a soil drench and or foliar spray per week for maximum results

6. Apply Rock Dust Plus as a top dress around the base of the plants (just enough to lightly cover the soil) at mid growth for leafy greens and at first flower for fruiting plants (peas, tomatoes etc). Rock Dust Plus must be watered in, we suggest you water it in with Seaweed Tonic or Hydrofish depending what your are up to in your gardening routine in order to be water wise, but hosing it in is fine.

7. Continue on with your weekly routine of Seaweed Tonic one week and Hydrofish the next

8. Apply more Rock Dust Plus as a top dress when you see the second burst of leafy green growth or flowers for fruiting plants. This is when the plant requires additional nutrition to ensure successful fruit development. The plant transfers its energy into the fruit it will bear and therefore you will end up with all those minerals and nutrients in your ediblles.

 

Planting Individual Seedlings

1. Incorporate up to 1 tablespoon into the soil beneath each seedling

2. Then follow steps 3-8 as above

 

Planting from Seed

1. Dribble handfuls of Rock Dust Plus into the seed furrow

2. Then follow steps 3-8 as above

 

Fruit Trees

1. Incorporate 1–2Kg into planting hole with some quality compost

2. Once planting is complete, water in well with No Frills Fertilisers Seaweed Tonic to stimulate early root development, this results in a stronger tougher plant

4. 1 week after planting water plants with No Frills Fertilisers Hydrofish (100 % pure fish), this drives growth

5. Alternate applications of Seaweed Tonic and Hydrofish as a soil drench and or foliar spray per week for maximum results

6. Apply Rock Dust Plus as a side dress at first bud burst.  Rock Dust Plus must be watered in, we suggest you water it in with Seaweed Tonic or Hydrofish depending on what your are up to in your gardening routine in order to be water wise but hosing it in is fine.

7. Continue on with your weekly routine of Seaweed Tonic one week and Hydrofish the next

8. Apply more Rock Dust Plus at mid growth of fruit to give the fruit another mineral and nutrient boost  – water in well

 

Existing Fruit Trees

1. Use an upfront addition of 4-5 heaped handfuls per square metre -apply around drip line, this can be done at any time of year however spring and autumn application are preferable. Citrus trees being heavy feeders may require more applications than the below during its growing season

2. Water in well with No Frills Fertilisers Seaweed Tonic or Hydrofish

3. Follow steps 5 – 8 as above in planting trees

 

Laying Lawn

1. Incorporate 1-2 handfuls per square metre into 50 -100 mm of soil

2. Lay lawn and water in well with just water or for maximum result use No Frills Fertilisers Seaweed Tonic

3. Apply Rock Dust Plus as a top dress of 1-2 handfuls per square metre as lawn establishes- always water in well

4. Maintaing your lawn – apply  Rock Dust Plus as a top dress of 1-2 handfuls per square metre in spring and summer and  some of course if it is looking tired.

 

Existing Lawn

1. Apply Rock Dust Plus as a top dress of 1-2 handfuls per square metre upon purchase of product – always water in well with just water or for maximum results use No Frills Fertilisers Seaweed Tonic

2. Maintaing your lawn – apply  Rock Dust Plus as a top dress of 1-2 handfuls per square metre in spring and summer and  some of course if it is looking tired.

 

Container Pots

1. Mix 1/2 – 1 cup of Rock Dust Plus into every 20 Lt of potting mix- you are now ready to plant

2. Once planting is complete, water in well with No Frills Fertilisers Seaweed Tonic to stimulate early root development, this results in a stronger tougher plant

Natives

1. Rock Dust Plus is low in soluble phosphorus and is therefore suitable for all native shrubs and trees. Application rates for planting native trees are 0.25-0.5Kg per planting hole and 1-2 handfuls per planting hole for shrubs.-water in well. Follow the above steps  in Fruit Trees at the lesser rate.

2.  For existing trees apply 1-2 handfuls around drip line and water in well.Follow the above steps in Existing Trees at the lesser rate

3. For existing shrubs apply 1 handful around drip line and water in well. Follow the above steps in Existing Trees at the lesser rate

 

Compost

1. Apply  Rock Dust plus liberally when making your own compost – this is  not a must but will add to your gardens maintenance programme- for how to make your own compost go to Everything Compost (information is currently being updated) on our website.
